1. How long have you been a member at CrossFit Warwick?
Since December 2010

2. How did you hear about the gym originally?
I heard about Crossfit from my friend, Joe Grill. We've worked out a lot together and he told that I should give it a shot.

3. What is your favorite lift/movement?
My favorite lift is the backsquat and thrusters.

4. What is your least favorite lift/movement?
My least favorite movement are burpees, of course.

5. What has been your biggest achievement since starting at CrossFit Warwick?
My biggest achievement since joining Crossfit Warwick was finishing the Spartan race. It was the real race that I've ever done and the most difficult thing I've ever done but it was a lot of fun. If I wasn't going to Crossfit, I would have never finished it or even have done it.

6. How many days per week do you work out at CrossFit Warwick?
I try to go to Crossfit Warwick at least 3 times a week.

7. What movement are you still struggling with and what are you doing to fix it?
I am still struggling with cleans and jumping rope. I signed up for the clean and snatch seminar to help with my form and I brought a jump rope so I can practice at home.

8. What were your stats, physically, before coming to CrossFit Warwick? Weight?
When I joined Crossfit, I hadn't been to the gym in over 3 months. I weighed 255 lbs. In the past 8 months, I've lost 17 lbs and gained a lot of muscle mass. All my muscles feel a lot tighter and I am a lot more flexible.

9. How has your nutrition changed?
My nutrition is still one area that I am still struggling with. I've learned a lot about nutrition and the Paleo diet from Crossfit Warwick, I hope to improve in this area with the information I have learned

10. What motivates you daily?
Feeling stronger and more fit is what motivates daily. Also I like that the workouts are different everyday so it never gets boring and that you have to sign up for classes. It helps hold me more accountable to actually go.

11. What advice would you give to someone who might be intimidated by CrossFit Warwick? Go for it! Anyone, no matter what your fitness level, can benefit from CrossFit.
I would tell them to give it a shot no matter what your fitness level is. They can modify the workout to your level. I think about 90% percent of the workouts I have done have been modify to help me complete it.

1.     How long have you been a member at CrossFit Warwick?

        Since May 2011

2.     How did you hear about the gym originally?

It was by chance that I came across Crossfit Warwick at the Warwick Expo.  Perfect Timing!

3.     What is your favorite lift/movement?

I don’t know if I have one. I like being able to do the lifts/movements correctly.
I HATE it when I can’t get it done!

4.     What is your least favorite lift/movement?

Clean and Jerk! Ugg, I still can’t get that down.

5.     What has been your biggest achievement since starting at CrossFit Warwick?

The biggest measurable achievement is that I’m running faster. I started running in
5k races as a way to stay committed to working out, but found that I like competing.
My 5k pace last August was 9:00 min/mi. My last 5k was a PR of 7:20 and I’m  running less and Crossfitting more.

6.     How many days per week do you work out at CrossFit Warwick?

I try for 3x a week at Crossfit, plus running 3x week.

7.     What movement are you still struggling with and what are you doing to fix it?

Double unders; they are so annoying. I keep saying I’m going to practice at home more and get this trick! That’s the plan anyway.

8.     What were your stats, physically, before coming to CrossFit Warwick? Weight?

I’m not sure of the weight since coming to Crossfit but since last August when I
started working out regularly I’ve lost 8 inches and 10lbs. I can definitely
notice more definition and my clothes are fitting better (or are too big!) since
        I started Crossfit.

9.     How has your nutrition changed?

My nutrition has changed quite a bit. I do not eat breads, pasta, rice, etc. I eat
a lot more protein than I used to. I can’t say I follow paleo strictly but I am
learning to embrace it. It is hard when you have to cook for a family – and one
of them is a picky 8-year-old!

 10.  What motivates you daily?

I have several things that motivate me. 1) I want to see my
sixpack. I know they are under there somewhere, but we have never been formally
introduced. I’d like to see them before I die…it’s a bucket list thing. 2) I
want to race faster. My goal is to be under 22 minutes in a 5k. 3) I want to be
a healthy role model for my children. I think they like the fact that their mom
is strong and works hard. 4) My daughter motivates me. She is a gymnast who
trains 22 hours a week. If she can do that, surely I can find 1 hour a day to
work out; that and the fact that she can kick my butt on any of the WOD’s.

11.   What advice would you give to someone who might be intimidated by
CrossFit Warwick?

Try it…you’ve got nothing to lose and lots to gain.

My name is Steve Haggerty, I am 30 years old. Before joining Crossfit Warwick, I had a hard time finding workouts that would keep me motivated and interested.  The boring big box gym wasn't cutting it for me anymore, I knew I needed more of a challenge.  The first Saturday WOD my wife and I attended was awesome!  Back in February I weighed in at a hefty 242 pounds and now I am down to 211.  I used to run over a 10 minute mile and now I am at a 7:30 minute mile, which I haven't done since high school football.  I am still wokring on eating Paleo all of the time, but I notice a complete change in my energy levels when I stick with it.  Crossfit pushes me to be a better athlete, but it benefits me greatly in my career as a power lineman and all facets of life.  GO TRI-POD.

Hi, my name is Laura McGill and I am a recovering sideline athlete. After years of driving, watching and cheering at the children's games, it's my turn to be in the game.  It took me at least 3 drive-bys before I actually went into CrossFit.  My sister finally made me go in.  I have never stayed with a program as long a I have this one.  I attribute my success at CrossFit to 2 things: the type of program it is and to Ryan and Kate.  The program is varied and challenging and Ryan and Kate guide, encourage and believe in your ability to achieve.

My name is Joseph Grill and I joined crossfit in December of 2010. Before joining crossfit I always would bounce around with my weight. I tried going to the gym, tried getting into running, tried getting into road biking. Nothing would quiet do it for me. The gym got boring fast, sitting in a gym doing rep after rep and having to set aside at least 1.5 hours in a day to work out just wasn't inciting to me. Everything else I tried I enjoyed but they were all short lived and more seasonal then year round. Then I heard about crossfit, checked out a few videos online, got extremely intimidated, and then said I should just go experience it for myself. After the first day I knew it’s exactly what I wanted. The workouts are all progressive and you can fit them into a 45 minute time slot. They are short and hard but they get the job done. In 3 months of crossfit I have seen more results in my health and fitness compared to years of going to a normal gym. After joining crossfit there really isn’t any other way I would rather workout.

1.     How long have you been a member at CrossFit Warwick?

I have been going to Crossfit since December of 2010.

2.     How did you hear about the gym originally?

I heard about crossfit for the first time when I was bartending at Pennings Farm Market and Katie came in an ordered a cold one and a lowland beef burger. She was wearing a Crossfit Warwick t-shirt and I asked her what it meant. After the conversation I had interest in the workout style and finally after a few months I finally pulled the trigger and joined.

3.     What is your favorite lift/movement?

Back squats and jump rope.

4.     What is your least favorite lift/movement?

I'm pretty sure it goes without saying, Burpees

5.     What has been your biggest achievement since starting at CrossFit Warwick?

Losing over 12#s in the month of February

6.     How many days per week do you work out at CrossFit Warwick?

3-5   Times a week, schedule permitting.

7.       What movement are you still struggling with and what are you doing to fix it?

Pull-ups/kips, I have been slowly decreasing my assist bands, I’m all the way down to the lightest band and have been trying to focus on the motions.

8.     What were your stats, physically, before coming to CrossFit Warwick? Weight?

My overall fitness before crossfit was overweight. For a bigger guy i considered myself pretty athletic, but that perspective has changed greatly looking back

9.     How has your nutrition changed?

My nutrition has geared more towards Paleolithic, more lean meats, veggies, some fruit. Have stopped drinking dairy products and eating any gluten and bread products. If so consumed in extreme moderation.

10. What motivates you daily?

Becoming the healthiest / fittest my body is capable of being. Working out for me is a great release of getting negative energy out both mentally and physically. No matter how much you dread a workout or how much you are not looking forward to it, when you finish your WOD you get a sense of accomplishment and a natural high.

11. What advice would you give to someone who might be intimidated by CrossFit Warwick?

I was, that’s why it took me a few months to finally pull the trigger on signing up. I thought i was going to go in there and there was going to be meatheads, pushing extreme weight and that i would look like a weakling and wouldn’t be able to hold my own. CrossFit was the completely opposite, it’s a bunch of everyday normal people who are social, friendly and supportive and are all on the same page as you. All people want out of you is just a little dedication and goal of progression. Were all there for the same gains, to live a healthy lifestyle and feel good about who we are.
